Arapahoe Basin Ski Area is located 68 miles from Denver in Summit County, Colorado. This homegrown ski destination is a locals' favorite that's also popular with visitors to the area. Its season is also a long one. It usually opens in mid-October and stays open into early June. The 70-year-old ski area offers some of the highest skiable terrain in the U.S. Half of the mountain is located above timberline with open bowl skiing and snowboarding available through spring and into early summer. It also offers the Legends Cafe, Black Mountain Lodge and the 6th Alley Bar & Grill. Rentals are available through Arapahoe Sports at the A-Frame Base Lodge.
