Summers in Breckenridge are filled with everything you can do in the great outdoors: hiking, fishing, golfing, biking and more. For those inclined, classes and lessons can hone skills or match you with a group of like-minded enthusiasts. Every week brings interesting daytime Breckenridge events, some of which are downright quirky. The July 4th holiday features a large parade that kicks off with the Firecracker 50, a high-profile mountain biking event whose participants come from across the country, fit and ready to careen around banked turns. At the close of the parade, firefighters position their hoses at either end of Main Street for a heat-relieving water battle where kiddos are encouraged to get soaked. Arts festivals reign in summer allowing locals and visitors alike to wander traffic-free zones of 100+ jury-selected artisans. Among the newer daytime Breckenridge event favorites is BIFA (the Breckenridge International Festival of the Arts) that includes performers from around the world. Stunt dancers, costumed drummers on parade and acrobats have all shown their skills along the Riverwalk Plaza. Each day at BIFA is supplemented with artisan demonstrations and classes.
Daytime Breckenridge Events in the Winter
Even in winter, guests should look for great Breckenridge daytime events. For the sports-minded, The Dew Tour is a week-long celebration of extreme snowboarding and skiing while around the holidays, you won’t want to miss the humor and holiday spirit of the Running of the Santas down Main Street. January brings the Budweiser International Snow Sculpting competition in which teams from around the world battle the weather and each other to hand carve art from blocks of snow.
